Tips & Strategy
The hardest part of Categories is resisting the urge to rush. Taking a moment to consider every word from multiple angles dramatically improves your accuracy.
- Look for the tricky group first. The puzzle usually includes one category that uses words in an unexpected way — for example, words that all follow "fire" or all precede "light." Spotting that group early prevents you from wasting guesses on surface-level groupings.
- Find your most confident group and submit it first. Removing four words from the board makes the remaining twelve easier to parse. Start with the group you are surest about.
